Educational Outlook
The Abraham Project is a full-service educational travel office, which is designed to synthesize high quality tourism services with high quality education and spiritual experiences. The objective is to provide a tour that addresses the educational needs of the interfaith client, while at the same time providing top-level administrative and logistical support.
The Abraham Project is committed to using a holistic approach to the educational experience. Our programs are designed thematically, combining educational and geographical considerations while in Israel. Introductory sessions, usually in the form of interactive programs, (discussions, workshops and presentations) precede most topics of study, and site visits are conducted with text in hand, always connecting the various sites to the specific daily and weekly themes.
Having said all that, we also believe it is essential to allow enough time for relaxation and personal exploration. In addition, we take care in designing programs that contain a successful balance between more “active” and recreational components and those that are more “content-oriented” in nature. Essentially, our views on educational programming motivate us to create programs that are wholly “experiential”, in which ALL components are “fun” and educational.
Service
At The Abraham Project our mission has always governed the way we conduct our company. It highlights our team dedication to serve our valued travelers and always exceed overall expectations. Foremost, we want you to know that we spare no effort on your behalf; we are always searching for new and innovative ways to create a comfortable and friendly environment for the interfaith pilgrim.
Through state of the art technology and ongoing training provided to our team of employees in our offices in New York and Jerusalem we impart that we are always, "trying to do the right thing!" We tell ourselves that we are in the Customer Service business-we just happen to provide travel. It is our privilege to serve.
Responsibility
In addition to the excellent staff accompanying the group on a daily basis, The Abraham Project provides constant supervision and assistance for all needs. The senior staff at The Abraham Project have many combined years of experience with all aspects of religious travel and are amply qualified to deal with all aspects of trip recruitment, preparation, and implementation.
First and foremost, everything is handled from one office, and all assistance is one phone call away. Secondly, each group is assigned a group coordinator who is responsible for the smooth day-to-day logistical operation of the group, and will be in constant contact with the group staff.
In addition, the The Abraham Project senior staff (director-general or executive vice-president), will speak with the leaders every day, visiting in person when possible and/or by phone, depending on the group’s location. We have found this to be extremely helpful on a day-to-day basis, not to mention those times when the group staff needs help in solving problems and dealing with possible crisis situations.
Also, the The Abraham Project senior staff is always available for educational and programmatic consulting and will work directly with the group staff, both from Israel and abroad, in constantly refining the group program during implementation.
Safety and Security
The Abraham Project follows the events in Israel very closely. For the many years that we have been organizing trips to Israel, safety and security have always been our number one priority. We review our schedules on a daily basis and maintain ongoing contact with government and security offices. While you may be concerned about travel during this volatile time, you can be certain that we will take every safety and security precaution necessary on our trip. In addition to refraining from entering unsafe areas, we never intentionally bring groups to any site or area that we feel is unsafe. We have staff in Jerusalem, and before and during the trips, our plans are monitored continuously, in case any changes are needed. Our tours do not travel to the West Bank or Gaza. Throughout each day, itineraries are cleared by our Jerusalem office. All of our guides carry cell phones, and we would not hesitate to move groups in a moment's notice. We use private bus companies, and instruct our participants to stay off of public transportation. Medics and guards are available at an additional cost. Please know that no one will go to Israel unless your leadership and The Abraham Project feel that it is appropriate and that we can provide the highest standard of safety and security which we always try to attain. We hope and pray for peace and wish you an amazing program in Israel.
Summary
As a dynamic and non-bureaucratic entity we serve our clients quickly, effectively and with a true understanding of the needs and realities of the interfaith pilgrim today.
The bottom line is that the current team in both Israel and the USA have
the knowledge, experience, and the administrative and educational skills
to help a tour participant return home with a deeper faith,
as well as a better sense of his/her Jewish, Christian or Muslim identity
and connection to the sacred sites of his or her tradition. Most importantly,
we know how to build a Holy Land Experience that will enrich the participants
and that will touch them right in their being.
