Interfaith Pilgrimages
The Abraham Project

Why an Interfaith Pilgrimage?

As Avraham/Abraham/Ibrahim, our common Father in Faith, first left his own home and people to follow the will of the One God, so we, his faithful children, answer the call of the same God to travel together to the holy places of our sister religions to learn about God from the viewpoints of Encounter, Incarnation and Submission and to share these insight with our brothers and sisters at home.

The Book of Genesis (12:1-4) recounts Abraham’s legendary decision to leave his family, community, and way of life to head out to worship, for the first time—The One God. His present-day descendants—Jews, Christians, and Muslims—travel together to explore the sites, traditions, and roots of our faiths.

The path to departure is challenging, namely creating an environment of openness, trust, and understanding necessary on such a journey—not only one geographically far away, but also one that brings us very close to the different sacred experiences of Jewish, Christian, and Muslim pilgrims.

The focus of the trip is spiritual and not political; no political actions or positions will be taken by the group. The components envisioned for the program are:
